Henry Clay Senior High School

Game Recap

Last night’s varsity soccer match against Lexington’s Henry Clay High School met with rain and referee delays, and finally kicked off just past 7:30. The wet field conditions created a sort of soccer slip – n- slide, and Henry Clay was first to gain traction. A shot attempt, normally easily handled in the goal by Seth Junion, squeezed through and crossed the goal shortly before the end of the first half.

In the second half, the relatively smooth pass and move combinations the Mustangs had produced previously were abandoned for slogging out a defensive strategy. Sam Kelly and Will Allen had strong defensive play, and Ben Stinebruner was a standout with pick and rolls that several local college basketball programs would envy.

In the end though, it was not to be, and Henry Clay closed down the night up 4-0.

The Mustangs take on Eastern High School tomorrow night at Eastern with a  6JV/7:30V starting times.
