North Oldham football team lost its first district game of the season to Spencer County on Friday night 21-13. North Oldham took the opening touchdown and marched 80 yards for the first score of the game making it look easy on a 13 yd TD run by Arien Beasley. The PAT was good by Brandon Peege for a 7-0 lead. Spencer answered with a long drive of their own to tie the game at 7 all. It remained that at the half as North had a chance to score again, but failed on a fourth and 1 at the 1 yard line.
The second half was controlled by Spencer County’s running game as they chewed up yards and controlled the clock led by their fb/wb #2 who amassed 287 yards rushing against the Mustangs. The Bearcats marched it down and took the lead 14-7 in the third quarter.
The Mustangs were able to get back in the endzone following a 43 yard run by Brandon Web to the 2, and Arien Beasley’s second touchdown run of 2 yard. The extra point was blocked by Spencer County which thwarted the Mustangs chance to tie.
Spencer County then took the ball and converted on a 1st and 30 and 2 fourth downs leading to the final touchdown of the night putting the final score at 21-13.
The Mustangs will now need to bounce back in two weeks against the district opponent Waggoner on Oct. 10 as North Oldham has a bye week next Friday.
