Boys Junior Varsity Cross Country, Boys Varsity Cross Country · NOHS Boys Cross Country State Champs… Again!

Heading in to the State Cross County meet coach David St. Louis was concerned at how close this meet could be and that it would take a strong finish to beat 2A rival Fort Thomas Highlands. After the first mile at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, the Mustangs were in second, down 1 point as Trenton Fryman was sitting 2nd and Alex McClarty 4th. At the 2 mile mark the North Oldham squad was still sitting in second, down 3 points with Fryman and McClarty running the same. At that point the Mustangs began to gallop. Heading down the stretch and to the finish the North Oldham team made their move passing many runners pressing to their goal of a 6th straight team title. Trenton Fryman coming up the final hill, crossed the line 2nd in the State finishing at 15:46.82. Alex McCarty had surged ahead and finished 3rd over all with a time of 15:53.35. Sophomore Aaron Beard had passed many and finished 14th with a time of 16:42.25. Aaron Kay-Anthony was the fourth Mustang to cross placing 20th at 16:58.19. Then gutting it out and passing the Highlands runner at the finish, senior Zeke Gillette dove across the line to help the Mustangs gain another point on their rival finishing 26th overall. With their final kick the North Oldham Mustangs won their 6th KHSAA 2A STATE TITLE in a ROW finishing with 61 points to Highlands 71 points.

What a fantastic season for North Oldham Boys Cross Country Team – 2015 STATE CHAMPIONS!
