The Rumble Through the Jungle cross country race sponsored by North Oldham High School will go down and one to remember. Not probably for fast times, but for the rain and the mud and conditions like no other. After completion of the course, many a runner must have felt they had signed up for a “mud run” rather than a cross country race. Many of those that slipped down the hill and then sloshed back up were covered from head to toe with the Creasey Mahan mud.
The top North Oldham boys varsity runner was Ty Sandman who finished in 19:40.50. The boys team finished 15th over all. The top NOHS varsity girl was freshman Katie Giles who placed 2nd with a time of 20:55.90 helping the girls team to a 7th place finish.
A huge congratulations to all of those 2,000 plus runners from the elementary races through the varsity races that completed this course under these conditions, and to the workers that helped put on this
tremendous event. The Rumble Through the Jungle of 2018 will be one that many will talk about for years to come.
