Girls Varsity Volleyball · Volleyball’s Road to State

By: Madison Thompson

After beating Oldham County tonight, Simon Kenton yesterday, and Spencer County on Monday, the North Oldham Mustangs have become the 8th Region Champions and are heading to state for the fifth straight year in a row!  What an amazing accomplishment for the entire volleyball team.

“Going to state would mean a lot to me and the team because we have worked very hard this season to get there, and we all have put in so much effort,” says Hannah McGill. Indeed they have worked hard this year, with a season record of 21—7 and beating teams such as Male and Oldham County. Addison Foote said  “going to state would mean a lot because in order to get there, we have to beat our rival OC, and we want to keep the streak up since we’ve been going to state for the past several years.”

The season hasn’t been easy for the volleyball team.  Addison Foote stated that “they play a really tough schedule to get the best competition and improve as much as possible.”  Throughout the season, they’ve had to work hard to “stay healthy mentally and physically strong through our rigorous schedule” added Madison Junion. But throughout the exhaustive season Brie Postema believes that “our team is extremely close and we spend a lot of time together, so we have fun.”

Congratulations to the volleyball team and good luck at state!
