On October 27th, North Oldham Boys Cross Country took home the title of Region 3 AA Champion, and so did Senior Carson Sharber as the individual champion! Carson says that during the race, “ I knew that I was supposed to be in the front, and I wanted to distance myself from the others in the pack. And it worked!” Carson and the cross country team has prepared long and hard this season practicing everyday over the summer, in the morning and at night! Since the regional meet, the preparation hasn’t stopped. The cross country team has been working hard to get ready for the State race held at the Kentucky Horse Park this Saturday. Carson Sharber says “we’ve worked a lot on hill strength, practiced on the state course earlier in the season, and looked at the course to see when we want to make certain moves.” North Oldham ended their state title winning streak back in 2015, took runner up in 2016, and placed 6th place in 2017. Carson believes that the team has the motivation and capability to take the state title this year. Carson says “winning the regional championship has been a big motivation booster”. He placed in top ten during his sophomore year and won runner up in his junior year. This year he hopes to place in the top five in the state championship! Good luck to Carson and the whole Boys Cross Country team!
