Boys Varsity Wrestling · New Season New Coaches: Part 3 – Wrestling

By: Madison Thompson

The boys wrestling team has new leadership this year with their new coach, Cris Reed. Coach Reed is an accomplished wrestler himself, being a 3 time All-State Wrestler at Seneca High School and has over 13 years coaching experience.  Throughout his coaching career, his favorite part of coaching is “being able to see the progress each individual wrestler goes through, not just as wrestlers, but as contributors to society.”  Coach Reed feels that wrestling teams are a family. “We work extremely hard but we are there for each other off the mat as well. Wrestling is more of a lifestyle than a “sport” in my opinion and the relationships you build with your team are very strong.”

Although the team has already had a few setbacks with injuries, they continue to give their best and improve every week.  He may not have a crystal ball to predict this year’s season but Coach Reed’s goal is to have multiple state placers and for the whole team to reach their peak by the end of the season.

The Wrestling Team has three more home meets this season.  Show your Mustang pride by coming out and cheering them on!
