The North Oldham girls team competed in the Regional golf tournament last Monday at Weissinger Hills Golf Course in Shelby County. The following Lady Mustangs made up the 2019 Region 6 Team: Emma Lindemoen, Morgan Higdon, Isabel Shingleton, Emilie Mitchell, Sydney Stephens and alternate Gabi McDonald. The skys were clearly blue but conditions were brutally hot. Our 7th grader, Emma, led the team with a season best 88, and was 18th in a field of 65 and missed the State Tournament qualifying by just 5 strokes. The next lowest score for the Mustangs was freshman Morgan, who shot a 93. Emilie had a
101 (season best), Isabel, 132 and Sydney, 135. In each case, the back nine scores were greater than the front. Blame it on the sun. Shot after shot though produced some of the best all season.

2019 has been a growing season and this tournament followed suit. We had those scoring their best rounds, those realizing that they could perform on the big stage, a couple missing their goals, but above all, an entire team of golfers doing a superb job of making a mistake and overcoming them. Golf is a mentally tough sport and its easy to get frustrated and shut down.
Not these Lady Mustangs. Without exception, each stayed the course and overcame. Makes an old coach very happy.
Hats off to you all. Congratulations Ladies…Just wait til next year.
