North Oldham volleyball is advancing to the state tournament for the sixth straight year following a straight set victory (25-18, 25-16, 25-11) over Woodford County in the Eighth Region final Oct. 31 in Goshen.
Ryan Bucher had a kill while Postema had an ace midway through the set for a 14-7 lead. Woodford County answered with three consecutive points, but North Oldham stopped the brief run on back-to-back kills by Hannah McGill and Foote.
Foote and Emily Goddin had kills in the final portion of the first set. Postema had another ace to help North Oldham close out the opening set.
Bucher had two aces as North Oldham took a 12-2 advantage in the second set. Postema found Goddin and McGill during the early run.
Woodford County worked back into the set with a 12-5 run, but North Oldham ended the set by taking five of the final six points. Brooke Bennett had an ace for the final point of the set.
North Oldham took nine of the first 12 points of the third set, including a kill by Postema, to force a Woodford County timeout. Kovarovic had a kill to extend North Oldham’s advantage to 14-6.
A kill by Postema gave North Oldham a 22-10 advantage in the final set.
With the Regional title the Mustangs will advance to the State Tournament to take on the winner of Region 15 Friday, November 8th, at 11 am. The State Tournament will be held at Valley High School.
